Heard there was a hot salmon bite over on the west side of the Soquel Hole so headed that way to start the day. We dropped the lines in with only one other boat around and immediately started seeing huge schools of bait. After about 15 minutes we went over the biggest bait ball I have seen all season and hooked up a triple! 40, 50, 90 OTW. Landed 2 of these fish and they were around 16 pounds, big fish! Circled around a couple times and landed 3 more fish from this school, 2 of them were pushing 20 pounds. 5 fish by 7:30am, not bad. We worked this area for the next 4 hours for 1 more keeper and a shaker coho. I made the decision to head to the radio bite near Pajaro and definitely did not disappoint. These fish were deep, landed 3 at 220 OTW and the go home fish at 200. Overall a great day in Monterey Bay with glassy water and blue skys.
